My Diary 2009

Just for fun, I've kept some of the stuff I put in my diary back in 2005 and you can access it further on down this page. One of the reasons I've done this, is because I have put quite a lot of information there about keeping fit and the importance of this in rodeo, even if you don't ride for a while. This will eventually join all the rest of the poddy riding stuff in a special archive area, but in the meantime you can see it here if you want to.

I'm not going to try and recreate the past few years. I'm just going to carry on with 2009 and keep going from here. I'll use the diary to record different events I've been to or I am planning to ride in.

I have ridden at several events recently, and pictures from these are in the Picture Gallery. I have put a brief description of each event with the photos.

I rode in the 2nd Division Bullride at the Barkly Muster and Goldrush Campdraft at Tennant Creek the weekend of 2nd to 4th October. This was a really great event and we all had a rave. The stock were excellent and the arena had been so well prepared, even with the desert dryness there was hardly any dust. Kudos to the guys who must have worked really hard to get it into such good condition. If I can get hold of any photos from the event, I'll put them into the Photo Gallery. There was a good crowd at the rodeo with people from all over Australia. I didn't ride time this time round, but had a ball anyway, and my brother, Cody Tapp, won the Open Bullride and also rode time on the feature bull.

Now, if you'd like to take a squiz at what I was doing a few years back, hop on over the fence and get into my 2005 Diary.

My Diary 2005

This is the page where I'll put details of all the events I go to or poddy or steer riding schools I attend or whatever else I do.

I haven't done any steer riding for a while because I've been busy doing lots of other things.  I haven't given it up though, I'll get back to it again before long because it's still what I love doing best.

I did a lot of skateboarding for a while a couple of years back and it was great fun.  I've got three different skateboards and they all got plenty of use.  Me and my friends used to go to a skate park at the local Salvation Army Centre every Friday.  I learned to do grinding and kick flips and I spent a lot of time going down the speed ramp.  Great stuff and good for keeping the leg muscles in good condition!  Heaps of kids went to the skate park.

I went to school in a different State for a year, and didn't do too much skateboarding while I was there.  I got into Rugby League in a pretty big way and played in the Grade 8 High School team.  It was ace!  I played in Forward or Centre positions.  We played every weekend and our team did really well.  We had matches with Hughenden, State High, BTC and Hughenden again and won them all.

Another thing I have done a lot of is bike riding.  There was a big dirt area near where we used to live that was set up with tracks and jumps like a BMX track.  It was terrific fun.  I've always loved BMX riding and used to compete in this sport, so it was great to get back to it for a while.  This is another sport that's really good for building up the leg muscles, so whenever I get the chance I get into it to keep myself fit for when I start back at rodeo again.

Haven't done any updates for a while because of being bogged down in school stuff, but we're into October now and its past time for a bit of a catch up.

First off I'll do a quick backtrack to the Katherine Show in July last year.  I was home for this and rode in the Poddy ride.  First rodeo riding I'd done for a while and I was really glad I'd been keeping fit by playing other sports or my muscles would've known all about it the next day!  None of us Poddy riders rode time but we all had a ball and it was great catching up with my rodeo mates again.

Been getting into athletics a fair bit at school and we had an inter-school competition. That was great fun and I did pretty well at it.  I came 2nd in the long jump with a 3.9 metre jump.  Might not seem much to the big guys, but that's a fair way when you're not grown up yet.  I got 3rd place in both the 100 metre and 200 metre sprints, but my best was coming 4th out of about 120 competitors in the long distance race.  I was 1st out of all the entrants from my school in that event.  That was a race and a half and great fun.

Started off the school break with some beach fishing at Mission Beach in Queensland.  Caught a 1 metre hammerhead shark!  Oh boy, that was great.  We stayed fishing until midnight but I didn't catch anything else.  Wish the holidays would stre-e-e-e-e-tch out for a good long while.
