I've put a few photos taken during 2008 & 2009 here. As I get more from different events I'll add them. You'll always find the most recent photos at the top of the page. At the end of the page, I've left some photos from my old poddy riding days. These will eventually go to a special poddy riding archive area, but for the moment they'll stay here until I've got everything organised.

This is a photo of my ride in the Novice Bullride at the Katherine Music Muster in the NT on 29th August 2009. It was taken by Mike Kenyon. The Music Muster is an annual event in Katherine and has grown from modest beginnings into a significant event on the music calendar in Australia. Come on up to the Top End and join us if you can one year. And ride some bulls! There's nowhere quite like Katherine, either for music or bullriding. Have I interested you?

Callan riding in the 2nd Division Bullride at the 2009 Mt Isa Rotary Rodeo. He placed 5th and 7th for his rides.

I was riding in the Junior Bullride at the Mt Isa Rotary ProRodeo here. The event was held over several days from 5th to 9th August 2009. I placed 2nd and had some beaut rides. It was a great event, and coupled with the Merrie Muster at Cloncurry a few days earlier, this was a great time in my life.

Mike Kenyon took this photograph, and if you want to see more of his photos or get copies of anything for yourself (not necessarily of me), just click on his name to go to his website. You'll find hundreds of photos there from many rodeos and sporting events.

This photo was taken by Mike Kenyon when I competed in the 2nd Division Bullride at the APRA Merrie Muster in Cloncurry, Queensland. This was held on 1st and 2nd August 2009 and I had a great time. There were so many good bulls and riders and the competition was very keen.  This is one of the two really big rodeos in Australia and just participating was an achievement.

Just a note. All the photos with KENYONSPORTSPHOTOS.COM.AU on them are copyright Mike Kenyon. You can go to his site if you wish to see all the photos he took at the events noted here.

Callan riding in the Campdraft at Tennant Creek, July 2008

The photo on the left was taken at the Campdraft at Tennant Creek in July 2008. I've had some really great rides at Campdraft events and wish I had some more photos. I really like this one because it shows both my eyes and the horse's eyes firmly fixed on the beast. This horse knew exactly what he was doing and put on a brilliant show. Pity the beast wasn't in this frame as well, but you can see from the direction we're both looking where he was. See the photo below to see what the beast looked like.

I competed in the Campdraft event at Tennant Creek in 2008. It was great fun, the horse I was riding was excellent and I had a ball. This photo shows us taking off after the beast. It was a pretty hazy day, as you can see from the sky. There were a lot of great horses and riders at this event and it was educational as well as fun to watch all the different styles and strategies used.

If you hop on over the fence below, you'll find all the old poddy riding and other photos from my original site. These will all end up in the special poddy riding archive eventually, but for now they're still here.

Me riding at Daly Waters rodeo in August 2000

Here's where I'm going to put poddy riding (and other) pictures of me and my friends.  I'll try and keep them up to date, but it's not  always easy to get good pictures.  The picture on the left is me riding at Daly Waters in August 2000.  This was a great rodeo and we all had a lot of fun.

Me and my friend, Sam, have built a club meeting place in a tree (where we can be private and plan what we want to do without girls interfering.  Actually, we do like girls really, but some things are just meant to be done by guys only .... and we think our '8 Second Club' is one of those things.  Here's a photo of our club sign.

Me and Sam on the boardwalk

The 8 Second Club is a special place for me and Sam and it was great fun building it.  Sam's really good with a hammer and nails and just gets stuck in and gets the job done.  This photo is of me and Sam 'On The Boardwalk'.  It took a huge effort to get all the planks of wood up in the tree and then nailed into position.  We would have just about filled the tree with ladders and boardwalks and stuff, but we ran out of planks of wood and nails.  That's Sam on the left and me on the right of the photo.

In this photo I am holding the fort while Sam's off finding more materials for our headquarters.  I can tell you, it was a very welcome break.  It was a good thing that tree had enough  leaves to give us some shade from the sun.  It's really hot where I live, and even during the 'dry' season (winter) the temperature stays up in the 20's and 30's - that's Celsius.

Here's a picture of me riding a poddy at Mataranka Rodeo in 2002.  This was a great rodeo, lots of fun and good rides.  Plenty of spills too, but that's what you get at rodeos.  I didn't know until the next day that I'd won this poddy ride.  Won with style, they said and I'm not going to dispute it!

Mataranka's always a good place to be 'cause when you've had enough of the dust and heat and you'd just about give your right arm (well ... almost) for a little cool, you can go to the springs and jump into the water and just hang out with your mates until you've cooled down.   Well, that's the idea but ... hahaha ... it's pretty hard to actually cool down in HOT springs!  But it's fun and refreshing and then it's back to the Rodeo to do it all over again!
